The Devotion
A wise believer once said "Every day remember that you have a God to glorify, a Saviour to imitate, virtue to aquire, eternity to meditate on, temptation to resist, the world to guard against, and perhaps death to meet." With David, we can ask God to enroll us in His school of wisdom. We need Him to teach us the shortness of life and the importance of eternity. We need Him to prune things in our life that aren't like Jesus. We need Him to give us divine appointments to share Jesus. And, most of all, we need Him to show us how to glorify Him in whatever we do. If we sign up and yield to Him, we'll surely ace the test - because the Teacher does the work in and through us!
Lord, help me be faithful in my daily assignment today. Help me walk closely with you in prayer, meditating on Your Word, and reflecting Your glory through my thoughts, actions, and attitudes. Thank you that you knew all my days before I was born (Psalm 119), and that all my tomorrows, and my eternity, are in Your sovereign hands. In Jesus' name. Amen.
