The Devotion
The Bible has a lot to say about words. The tone, timing, and choice of our words all have a powerful effect on our lives and the lives of those we speak to. We've all had a time when we felt "stuck" or in despair, and then God sent a friend to speak words of life and encouragement to us. Isn't it amazing how just one conversation can put the wind back into our sails, help us stand a little taller, and keep on going?
According to Proverbs 15:4, our words can bring healing and life to our relationships, or they can be perverse and crush other people's spirits. What kind of words will you choose to use today?
Lord, thank you that Your Word speaks life. Thank you that The Word, Jesus, came to communicate and demonstrate Your love when I was still dead in sin. Thank you for making me alive in Jesus, and I submit my tongue to You today. Help me speak words that bless, encourage, and tell people about Jesus today. In Jesus' name. Amen.
