Oceans of Grace
Today's Verse
18Who is a God like you, pardoning iniquity and passing over transgression for the remnant of his inheritance? He does not retain his anger forever, because he delights in steadfast love.19He will again have compassion on us; he will tread our iniquities underfoot. You will cast all our sins into the depths of the sea.20You will show faithfulness to Jacob and steadfast love to Abraham, as you have sworn to our fathers from the days of old.Micah 7:18-20 · ESV
The Devotion
Did you know that over 70% of the Earth is ocean water? No I'm not talking about the drink at Sonic. Our Earth contains over 332 million cubic miles of water. A cubic mile is hard to wrap our minds around but think of it like this: 1 mile is about 14 football fields long. Imagine a box that is 14 football fields high, 14 football fields wide, and 14 football fields deep. Now imagine filling that box up with water over 332 million times. That's how big the ocean is!
The Bible says in Isaiah 40:12 that God has measured the oceans in the palm of His hand. That's amazing. That tells me that God is big and that He cares about the details. Someone once said, "There's nothing too small for God to not care about and nothing too big that He can't handle."
This amazing God has given us oceans of grace, mercy, love, and forgiveness, far more than we deserve. Some people limit God or try to put Him in a box. They want to make Him do what they want or be who they want Him to be but our God is so big and great that He deserves all worship, praise, allegiance, love, and devotion. That's the God we serve today.
Lord, I thank you that you are great and greatly to be praised. You are the Almighty, the never-changing God of all creation. Thank you for knowing me intimately and personally. Psalm 139 says, "Even if I went to the farthest ocean, I couldn't flee from your presence." I love you and serve you today in Jesus' name. Amen
